Definition Of 4-4-2 Formation
1. This formation involves four defenders, four midfielders and two strikers on the field. There are several variations of this formation, most of which involve the placement of defenders and/or midfielders on the field. Either of groups can stay “flat,” meaning that the defenders and/or midfielders stay in a relatively straight line across the field. There is also the option to format either position in a “diamond” layout with two wings and a front and back central player.
