The NBA board of governors has voted 29-1 and approved to restart the 2019-2020 season in Orlando, Florida.
The plan, which was originally unveiled on Wednesday by commissioner Adam Silver, outlines having a 22-team format that would include the top 16 teams from the Western and Eastern Conferences.
The remaining six teams will be made up of squads that are currently within six games of eight place in the two conferences. Those teams include New Orleans, Portland, San Antonio, Sacramento, Phoenix and Washington.
The league will begin with eight regular season games to start, with a possible play-in tournament for the eighth seed, and playoffs.
If the ninth-placed team is within four games of eighth place, the two teams will play each other. The eighth seed enters a double-elimination tournament and the ninth-seed enters a single-elimination tournament.
Teams will begin training at their team’s facility in July, with full-training camps resuming in Orlando later in the month.
The games will be played at Walt Disney World Resort.
Safety protocols for both the players and resort workers are still being negotiated. Details of the schedule has not yet been released.
