What Is The Definition Of Fricket In Disc Sports?

1. In disc sports, fricket is a game that’s a combination of cricket and frisbee, usually involving two-on-two, although it can be played one-on-one. Players take discs and attempt to hit one of two 12-ounce cups off the top of a wicket, which has been placed into the ground.

What Items Are Needed To Play Fricket?

To properly play fricket, players need:

  • About a four-foot-tall stick of wood, although plastic will do. Other items that make perfect wickets include bamboo stakes, wooden dowels, or steel rods — anything that has about a half-inch diameter on the top.
  • Four 12-ounce cups.
  • A frisbee or flying disc.

Players all stake the sticks of wood into the ground 15 inches apart from each other and forty feet from the opposing players. The plastic cups are set on the top of each wicket.

What Is The Goal Of Fricket?

The goal is to score more points than the opponent by knocking the cups off the wicket or by whizzing the disc in between the wickets without knocking the cups down. Games are typically played to 11, although other variations have winning teams securing 15 or 21 points.

How Are Points Awarded In Fricket?

Each team takes turns trying to either knock off cups or split the wickets. Here are ways to earn points:

  • Knocking off a cup to the ground = 1 point.
  • If a team catches their cup before it hits the ground, the receiving team = 1 point.
  • Discs that pass between the wickets without touching them = 2 points.
