Definition Of Runners
1. The runners are four solid polished steel sliders that are on the bottom of bobsleds and are on which the bobsled rides.
On each bobsled, there are two sets of runners. One pair are a movable set of front runners, while the second set are fixed and are located at the rear of the sled.
Because a bobsled rides on it’s runners, it is illegal to tamper with them in any way that may gain a competitive advantage. Some examples of illegal tampering would be to heat the runners or treat them with any liquid, solid or gaseous in order to improve their sliding capabilities.
