What Is The Definition Of Indirect Snap In Football?

1. An indirect snap is a tactic used to misdirect or confuse the defense. Instead of snapping the ball directly to the quarterback, the center will snap the ball to a different player whom is off to the side of the quarterback.

For example, the center will indirectly snap the ball to the running back set off to the side of the quarterback in the shotgun position, or to a wide receiver who is crossing in front of the quarterback while in motion.
